A Festive Processional (In Gold and Black) for organwas originally composed in the late spring of 1993 and was titled, In Gold and Black (A Festive Piece for Organ). Its purpose was for use at convocations at Wake Forest University, where I have served as Composer-in-Residence and Professor of Music since 1982. Its original dedication reads: To the Administration, Faculty, Staff and Students of Wake Forest University. In 2002I revised the piece, but never planned for it to be published. Rediscovering the composition in May of 2025, it was apparent to me that, if it were ever going to be published, an extensive revision would be needed. The results of that revision of the piece, now renamed A Festive Processional (In Gold and Black) for organ, is this new edition from Subito. Of only modest difficulty, A Festive Processional (In Gold and Black) works well as a processional piece for any occasion, but it also can function as a festive organ voluntary within a service of worship or as a recital piece.
