On May 30 and 31, 2026, the Winston-Salem Symphony performed Dan’s Since Dawn for narrator, chorus, and orchestra based on Maya Angelou’s On the Pulse of Morning), as part of their concerts at Reynolds Memorial Auditorium in Winston-Salem, NC.
Performers were the Winston-Salem Symphony and Chorus, led by Michelle Merrill, Conductor and Chris Gilliam, Chorus Director with Poet Laureate of North Carolina.Jaki Shelton Green, Narrator.
